Children under pressure

Children Under Pressure
On 7th January, ITV presented their programme “Children Under Pressure” which offered information on the lives of Britain’s children including the pressures that they face.
In a recent poll run by the mumsnet website, some startling statistics revealed how concerned parents were about the stress their children are facing in the 21st century.
The programme showed that there has been a 70% increase in serious emotional problems since the 1970s and that 10% of teens have been diagnosed with mental health issues. In fact, in December, the BBC reported that over 1 in 4 14-16 year olds considered themselves depressed. Exam stress, peer pressure as well as reduced playtime and freedom to be children were cited as some of the causes.
The programme explained that children need tools to help cope with inevitable pressures and stresses they face.
The Relax Kids exercises are a perfect tool as they work on so many levels.
Children can take a break from their life for a few minutes and enter the world of their imagination where they are free to fly, explore, dream and most importantly relax.
The effects from these exercises will last a life time and the skills developed will become a sanctuary that they can visit again and again so helping them cope with the challenges life throws at them.
Relaxation is the perfect antidote for child stress in these times.  Children need time and space to simply do nothing.
Relax Kids CDs have been created to help children manage stress and anxiety.
